Travelers Tips: More Beach Rules for Myrtle Beach

Below are some more handy tips, rules and laws about using the beaches that travelers to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina ought to know:
  1. Jumping or diving from piers is not permitted.
  2. Glass containers are prohibited on the Beach.
  3. Swimwear is subject to city ordinances in Myrtle Beach, North Myrtle Beach, and Surfside Beach. Thong bathing suits are strictly prohibited.
  4. Open containers or beer, or liquor are prohibited in any public place including streets, sidewalks, and in beach areas.
  5. Swimming is prohibited beyond 50 yards from the beach or over shoulder depth unless otherwise stated by a lifeguard.
  6. Only canvas rafts may be used in the ocean and must be equipped with safety ropes.
  7. It is illegal to cut, break, or otherwise destroy sea oat plants, beach grass, or sand fencing.
