Broadway at the Beach New Attractions 2010

Broadway at the Beach, Myrtle Beach, SC is a large complex featuring stores, amusement rides, activitues, attractions, theaters, and events.  I was there two years ago and am here to report my return trip has revealed some changes.  To be expected, some stores and restaurants are gone, but the good news is they've been replaced.  The economic slump has not left Broadway at Beach desicated, it is still thriving, crowded and tons of fun!  The IMAX has new movies, MagiQuest has new wands and new quests, Ripley's Aquarium has a new feature exhibit- Toxic and Leathal Creatures.  Some old favorites are still to be found, the kids fountain, Dragon's Lair mini golf, and carnival games and rides.

Broadway at the Beach also welcomed a new zip line and rope course called Soar + Explore in 2010.  This 1,000 foot zipline runs across the lake, 50 feet in the air.  Featuring a constant tension system, the dual-line course is supposed to ensure participants a smooth “zip”.   Meanwhile the pirate themed Ropes Challenge Course claims to be the only ropes course over water.  Climbing 40 feet through three stories into the air, this course uses over 3,000 ropes and cables to present climbers with 33 different challenge elements.

Closed toe shoes are required for the ropes course.  Height Requirements – 48” for Ropes Course, 54” for Zipline.

While both activities look fun, I only saw one person try the zip line while I was there, and as you can see from the picture, he got stuck feet from the end of the line.  Maybe that was a fluke, or an employee testing the course, I don't know, zip at your own risk.
